Press Release (PressBurner) Mar 07, 2009 - CaneCorso.com released a Web 2.0 version of their website on February 1, a social network blending facebook, MySpace and YouTube just for the Cane Corso. Within the first month, the site attracted 450 new members who added 2315 photos and 55 videos...and since then, membership has increased at an astounding rate of 10% per week. CaneCorso.com also has a presence on facebook http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=47708867077 and MySpace http://www.myspace.com/canecorsocom.

“It's like a virtual dog park where Cane Corsos and their owners worldwide can get together in an online community,” says CaneCorso.com's Leilani Souza. “People can lurk as much as they want to, but they must become members if they want to come in and socialize with others and show off their own dogs.” CaneCorso.com is currently offering free memberships, which include a customizable personal web page featuring a photo slideshow, blog, widget box, comments and the member's latest activity, plus the ability to join special interest groups, post events and participate on forums.

The Cane Corso ("KAH-neh COR-soh") dog is an ancient Italian molosser and its name derives from the Latin "cohors" that means guardian, protector. It has an athletic build and a solid, compact body with free-flowing movement. The combination of its stable character, the absolute devotion to its master and its adaptability to the environment are the reasons of the breed's popularity and success. Historically, the dog was used to guard property and cattle, to hunt large game and the protection of the family. It is a gentle, sociable dog and easily trained to perform the duties for which it has been bred. Although the Cane Corso breed has worldwide FCI recognition, it is currently only in the AKC Miscellaneous Class in the USA.

“CaneCorso.com is the premier global internet resource for the Cane Corso and our mission is to have all breeders, owners and enthusiasts unite worldwide and share our knowledge, experience and memories,” says Souza.

A mobile version for the iPhone is also available at CaneCorso.mobi.
