Press Release (PressBurner) Jun 08, 2009 - Toronto, Canada – GAO Fiber Optics (www.GAOFiberOptics.com) provides its Gigabit Ethernet media converter intended to convert 1000Base-T signals to 1000Base-X fiber signals and vice-versa. The converter extends the connection distance between two Gigabit Ethernet devices via fiber cable transparently with no performance degradation. It is suited for both standalone and composite applications with pre-configured fiber transceivers. It also supports Bi-Di WDM and CWDM fiber network applications. Any equipment compliant with Ethernet standards, such as switches and routers, can be connected through the media convertor.
GAO Fiber Optics’ 1000Base-T to 1000Base-X converter conforms to the IEEE802.3z standard and ROHS. The SFP (Mini-GBIC) connector design allows the converter to support multimode and single mode fibers, as well as, having the flexibility to adapt to future changes in fiber networks. The data transfer rate is 2000Mbps for full-duplex and 1000Mbps for half-duplex. It is downward compatible with 10M, 100M and 10/100M equipment. The converter also supports center chassis installation with optional power redundancy and management features for larger fiber networks. All of these practical functions and powerful features make the converter an ideal solution for short reach multimode fiber to long reach single mode fiber, Bi-Di and CWDM applications.
