A Look at Seiko Automatic Diver’s SKX009K1 SKX009K SKX009

Press Release (PressBurner) May 13, 2010 - If you scuba dive then your watch is a secondary or backup timing device. This Seiko automatic diver is water- resistant to at least 200 meters/660 feet or designed for scuba diving. As the caliber of 7S26 i.e. 21-jewel movement, automatic watch winds itself with the motion of your wrist, so you’ll never need to change the battery. Designed for diving, this watch is water-tested to 200 meters. It’s fascinating to have this intricate and accurate time-machine on your wrist. And the auto-winding mechanism is a real plus. One of the classic and attractive features of diver watches is the rotator elapsed time bezel. There is also a version of this elapsed time ring in red (from 0 to 20 sec.) and blue (from 20 to 60 sec.).

The dark blue face makes for a bold, easy-to-see-at-a-glance contrast with the round-cut hour markers and attention-grabbing hour and minute indicators. The nighttime luminosity is excellent; the watch uses Seiko’s Lumibrite, which is an organic luminous material. Tasteful luminous markers and dissimilar hands ensure that you always have the time at a glance. The luminous dot and strips on the bezel also assures that you are able to track elapsed time in any lighting condition. Exposure to sunlight or light high in UV (fluorescent, for example) charges the luminous material. The strap is great, and conforms to the shape of your wrist. The crown at 4:00 is large.

It has a very pronounced bezel is protected by an equally pronounced bezel-guard that extends upwards from the lugs. The bezel guard extends into the crown guard to the location of the crown at the 4 o’clock position. A diver’s watch has a tougher, thicker case /crystal and excellent sealing system, affording maximum protection for the movement within. The case and bezel is polished stainless steel and bezel has gear shape pronunciation which adds great look to this divers watch. Seiko automatic watches are real diver watches as well with an easily gripped screw-down crown and a two-hundred meter depth rating. The watch face appears deeply recessed below the height of the bezel and the hands are large and very wide. The effect makes the watch look very thick and solid.
