Work Integrated Learning Second Batch takes off at BITS Pilani Matrix Laboratories Hyderabad
The Birla Institute of Technology and Science popularly known as BITS Pilani for the year 2009 has been ranked among the top ranking universities along with IITs in various Magazine surveys such as India Today, Outlook, LiveMint etc.

BITS Pilani has a very strong Alumni Network with Global spread from Australia through Africa to America.
Right from 1979, BITS Pilani, has set a benchmark in Industry University collaborations for addressing the Human Resource Development issue of various industries by launching an array of work integrated learning programmes to synergize the workplace requirements of the industry with the learning requirements of the university.
Matrix Laboratories Limited Hyderabad is engaged in the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and Solid Oral Dosage Forms. The development and manufacture of quality intermediates, bulk actives have been critical to our success in delivering innovative and affordable products for both the domestic as well as international markets.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BITS and Matrix was signed on 27 November 2008 with the objective of fostering collaboration between the two institutions to promote academic and research interactions. The MoU was signed by Mr Rajiv Malik Director on behalf of Matrix and Prof L K Maheshwari Vice Chancellor on behalf of BITS Pilani. BITS would offer educational avenues at various levels to meet the human resources development needs of Matrix through its Off-Campus Work Integrated Learning Programs.
Matrix has been hosting the Practice School program of BITS Pilani and have already sponsored a batch of 39 employees in 2007 for undergoing the 3 year MSc(Tech) Pharmaceutical Chemistry Work Integrated Learning program.
The grand inaugural function of the second batch of MSc(Tech) Pharmaceutical Chemistry for the 40 candidates sponsored by Matrix took place on 22 August 2009 at Hyderabad. Mr S Srinivasan Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Matrix urged the sponsored employees to make best use of the opportunity to pursue higher education in the work place. Prof LK Maheshwari Vice Chancellor BITS Pilani in his tele address from Pune reiterated the commitment of BITS for fostering industry university collaborations through Work Integrated Learning programs.
Prof BR Natarajan Dean Work Integrated Learning programs BITS Pilani in his tele address from Pune highlighted that the quality of human resources are the true assets of any organization and that the specially designed Work Integrated Learning program for Matrix was to enhance the same. Mr Mohan Sharma Senior Vice President HR from Matrix, Mr Zameer Ahmed HR Executive from Matrix and Dr D Sriram BITS Faculty from Hyderabad Campus who coordinates the program were also present on the occasion.
This undoubtedly marks yet another milestone in industry university collaborations in the Indian scenario.
